The Commissioner for Works in Kogi State, Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf, has resigned from his position, citing personal reasons for his decision.
Reports indicate that the resignation was contained in a letter addressed to the Governor of the state, Ahmed Usman Ododo, through the Secretary to the State Government.
Ahovi Yusuf was appointed to the position on February 5, 2024, and served in the administration for over a year.
In his message, the former commissioner expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in government and contribute to the development of the state, particularly in the area of infrastructure.
He also thanked the governor and members of the state executive council for their support during his time in office.
The former commissioner further appreciated the people of Kogi State for their cooperation throughout his tenure and wished the administration success in its ongoing programmes.
He added that he believes the state will continue to grow and progress under the current leadership.
Although he did not provide full details about the reason for his resignation, reports suggest that his decision may be connected to a possible political ambition.
According to the reports, he may be preparing to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives of Nigeria, in line with electoral rules that require public office holders to step down before seeking elective positions.
