Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has denied any involvement in the escalating social media dispute between controversial activist VeryDarkMan and content creator King Mitchy.

The controversy erupted after King Mitchy completed the renovation of a public school within six days, reportedly with financial backing from Seyi. She later became embroiled in an online exchange with VeryDarkMan over claims that she failed to provide accountability for donations received from supporters since 2025.

As the argument intensified, VeryDarkMan alleged that Seyi was supporting Mitchy’s charity initiatives and went further to suggest that both should be held responsible if anything were to happen to him. The activist made the remarks in a video shared on Instagram, drawing widespread attention to the matter.

In a statement posted on his own Instagram page on Saturday, Seyi described the accusations and suggestions linking him to the dispute as unfounded. He clarified that his interaction with King Mitchy was limited to a public meeting where he made a financial contribution to her non-governmental organisation.

“Over the past few days, my name has been deliberately drawn into an online dispute between VeryDarkMan (VDM) and King_Mitchy (‘Mitchy’),” he wrote. “Let me be clear: the allegations and insinuations made about me are false.”

Seyi explained that he met King Mitchy only once, alongside other individuals, and provided funds as part of his ongoing support for youth-focused initiatives across Nigeria. According to him, a follow-up engagement to assess the impact of the donation was planned but could not hold due to health challenges.

“There has never been a private encounter, no secret arrangement, and no impropriety of any kind,” he stated.

He expressed disappointment that a disagreement he neither initiated nor participated in was being used to question his integrity. Seyi further alleged that VeryDarkMan appeared to be seeking an opportunity to target him and seized on the situation to do so.

“If my name generates attention, let us at least deal in facts. Supporting charitable causes is not a crime. Meeting someone publicly to support their NGO is not a scandal. Repeating falsehoods loudly does not transform them into truth,” he added.

The president’s son also criticised what he termed online harassment and intimidation, warning that such behaviour can carry serious mental health consequences.

“I will not be bullied, and I will not dignify fiction with panic,” he wrote. “No disagreement should descend into harassment that risks someone’s wellbeing or safety.”

Reiterating his commitment to philanthropy, Seyi said that for over a decade, through his foundation and personal contributions, he has supported programmes in education, entrepreneurship, healthcare, and youth empowerment.

“Philanthropy and outreach must never be politicised or weaponised,” he said. “Nigeria needs builders, not bullies. We need responsible discourse, not sensationalism driven by speculation.”

He concluded by dismissing the claims against him and urging all parties to de-escalate tensions and focus on truth and accountability.

“Noise will fade. Character and work endure. I remain committed to serving Nigerians, especially our youth, with integrity and transparency.”

What You Should Know

Seyi Tinubu has denied allegations linking him to the online feud between VeryDarkMan and King Mitchy, stating that his only involvement was a public donation to her NGO.

The dispute began over accountability concerns surrounding public donations and later expanded to include accusations directed at Seyi.

He has called for restraint, condemned online bullying, and reaffirmed his dedication to charitable and youth empowerment initiatives.
