Popular influencer and self-styled social critic Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has publicly accused Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, of issuing threats against his life.

The allegation, shared in a viral Instagram video on Friday afternoon, stems from an ongoing dispute with fellow content creator King Mitchy over transparency in charitable activities and alleged political sponsorships.

VDM, who has built a reputation for calling out perceived injustices and celebrity excesses, claimed in the video that Seyi Tinubu and King Mitchy are orchestrating threats against him. “Nigerians, with respect to what’s going on now, they are beginning to threaten my life. Seyi Tinubu and King Mitchy are threatening my life,” VDM stated, his voice laced with urgency. He referenced a private chat allegedly sent by King Mitchy to his friend, identified as Kokopee, warning of Seyi’s anger.

In the message, Mitchy reportedly urged, “Hold VDM ooo. Either we talk on the phone and settle this, or the matter will get serious. Seyi just called me now to explain everything. Talk to VDM because what I heard just now, hmmm, I’m afraid. Seyi go far ooo. Na me know wetin he tell me on the phone. Protect your bro.”

Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, VDM added, “My life is being threatened. I just want to put it out there that if anything happens to me, it’s King Mitchy and Seyi. They both know what they’ve spoken about on the phone. King Mitchy is so scared that she wants to come and meet me so that we can quickly settle to appease Seyi because Seyi is so angry.”

He further alleged that Seyi Tinubu’s influence extends to high-level security officials, claiming, “Seyi Tinubu is so influential and powerful that he can command the IGP [Inspector General of Police] and DSS [Department of State Services] boss. Anything Seyi likes, he can do.”

VDM tied the purported threats to his vocal criticism of the current administration, stating, “I want Nigerians to know that it is because I am speaking about the evil of this government that Seyi Tinubu is coming for me. A threat to my life has been issued. If anything should happen to my close ones and me, hold @seyitinubu and King Mitchy responsible. THIS IS NOT A JOKE. I DON’T FEEL SAFE.”

The controversy traces back to a heated exchange between VDM and King Mitchy, whose real name is Mitchell Anetor. Earlier this week, Mitchy announced the renovation of a public school in Delta State, completed in just six days with financial backing from Seyi Tinubu.

The project drew widespread praise online, but VDM quickly countered, accusing Mitchy of failing to account for public donations she has received since 2025 and suggesting that her charity work is a front sponsored by Seyi to polish his public image.

In a follow-up video, VDM shared footage from a visit to the Delta State school by a member of his “Ratel” group, claiming the renovations were incomplete—some buildings remained dilapidated, and a promised borehole was non-functional. “Everything was all a fraud. She’s a political tool for Seyi Tinubu and the APC. That’s why they see me as a threat,” VDM asserted in a post that garnered thousands of views.

This isn’t the first time VDM has clashed with figures linked to the Tinubu family. An old video resurfaced on Friday showing VDM expressing support for Seyi Tinubu’s potential governorship bid in Lagos, saying he would campaign for him.

The clip, which contrasts sharply with his current stance, has fueled speculation about shifting allegiances amid the feud. Meanwhile, Mitchy’s supporters have hit back, accusing VDM of jealousy.

One fan claimed VDM hastily posted his own renovation project at a university in Nasarawa State to overshadow Mitchy’s efforts, even blaming celebrity blogger Tunde Ednut for amplifying VDM’s content.

Reactions on social media have been swift and divided. On X (formerly Twitter), users expressed concern for VDM’s safety, with one post urging him to report the threats to the police: “Seyi Tinubu threatens VeryDarkMan’s life, but he doesn’t know what to do! Report him with evidence to the Nigeria Police.”

As the story unfolds, many are watching to see if it escalates beyond viral videos into official investigations, amid calls for transparency in both charity and governance.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

VeryDarkMan has publicly declared that his life is under threat from Seyi Tinubu (President Bola Tinubu’s son) and influencer King Mitchy, stemming from his accusations of political sponsorship and lack of transparency in charity work.

He has explicitly warned that if anything happens to him or his loved ones, Seyi Tinubu and King Mitchy should be held responsible, a serious allegation that blends online rivalry, charity disputes, and claims of powerful political interference.
