Another Actor Charged With Sexual Offences

British actor Noel Clarke, 50, has been charged with six sexual offences following a year-long investigation by the Metropolitan Police, the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed this week.

The CPS authorized the charges on Wednesday after detectives handed over a completed file of evidence. Clarke, from Kensington in west London, faces two counts of sexual assault, three of voyeurism and one of exposure, relating to incidents between 2007 and 2016.

The Hollywood Reporter noted that voyeurism refers to secretly watching, photographing, or filming someone without consent for sexual gratification.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the case stems from allegations made by five women concerning misconduct across that nine-year span. The investigation was opened in September 2025, and Clarke was arrested on 25 September 2025, when he was still in his 40s, before the file was passed to prosecutors for a charging decision.

Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney, who is leading the inquiry, said the women involved continue to receive support from specially trained officers and repeated an appeal for anyone else who may have been a victim to come forward, stressing that any information shared would be treated with sensitivity.

Bethan David, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London, said prosecutors concluded there was enough evidence to justify bringing the matter before the courts and that doing so served the public interest.

The CPS has cautioned against public commentary that might prejudice future proceedings, reminding the public that Clarke retains the right to a fair trial and that the charges have not been tested or proven in court. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 21 October 2026, at 10:00 BST.

The charges land against the backdrop of years of controversy surrounding Clarke. In 2021, an investigation by The Guardian detailed misconduct claims from roughly 20 women, alleging groping, harassment, and inappropriate conduct, including on the set of Doctor Who.

Clarke denied the allegations at the time and later sued the newspaper for libel, a case he lost in 2025, after which he was ordered to pay £3 million toward the paper’s legal costs.

Notably, an earlier Metropolitan Police assessment in 2021 had found that the original third-party report did not meet the threshold for a criminal investigation, though officers said any further allegations would be “thoroughly considered.”

Clarke, who rose to prominence playing Mickey Smith opposite Billie Piper in Doctor Who and later wrote, directed, and starred in Kidulthood, was also arrested in February 2026 on suspicion of attempted rape, exposure, and sexual assault by touching, relating to a separate 2007 incident.

Clarke has not yet publicly responded to this week’s charges.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Noel Clarke, best known for Kidulthood and Doctor Who, has been formally charged with six sexual offenses, two counts of sexual assault, three of voyeurism, and one of exposure involving five women, following a Met Police investigation into incidents alleged to have occurred between 2007 and 2016.

He is due in court on 21 October 2026. The key point: these are charges, not convictions. Clarke retains the right to a fair trial, and nothing has yet been proven in court.
