A former member of the House of Representatives and pioneer chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State, Ado Sani Kiri, has resigned from the ruling party.

Kiri, who represented the Ringim/Taura Federal Constituency between 2019 and 2023, announced his resignation in a letter dated March 30, 2026.

The letter was addressed to the APC Ward Chairman in Kiri Ward, Saliku Mujtapha, and was made available to journalists on Friday.

In the letter, the former lawmaker said his decision came after careful thought and a personal decision to withdraw from party activities.

“This decision has been made after a careful consideration,” Kiri stated.

Despite leaving the party, Kiri expressed gratitude to the APC for giving him the opportunity to serve and contribute to its growth.

“I appreciate the opportunity given to me to be part of the party and to contribute, in my own capacity, to its activities and objectives during my period of membership,” he added.

Kiri’s resignation has started to generate reactions among political stakeholders in Jigawa State because of his role in building the APC structure in the state.

However, his resignation letter did not state whether he plans to join another political party.

Meanwhile, Kiri also confirmed that he has withdrawn from all party activities, leaving his supporters uncertain about whether he is retiring from politics completely or taking a temporary break.
