Tragedy has struck Ondo State following separate violent incidents that claimed several lives, including a mother and her daughter who were attacked by suspected kidnappers.
In one of the incidents, armed men invaded a poultry farm located at Igushin via Ala in Akure, where they killed a woman and her daughter.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers, believed to be about five in number, gained entry into the premises by climbing over the fence while the poultry owner was working alongside her daughter, sister, and other employees.
During the assault, three individuals were abducted, causing panic across the community. The lifeless bodies of the poultry owner and her daughter were later discovered within the compound.
“The attackers came through the fence. They were about five and took three people away. Later, we found the woman and her daughter dead,” an eyewitness said.
Security operatives were alerted immediately, leading to the deployment of officers from the Nigeria Police Force to the scene.
The police later confirmed that two of the kidnapped victims were rescued during a coordinated operation.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, condemned the attack, describing it as a violent act that resulted in loss of lives.
“While two victims were successfully rescued through a swift operation, the Command expresses deep sorrow over the deaths recorded,” he said.
He added that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest those responsible, while assuring residents that steps have been taken to strengthen security in the area.
Jimoh also urged residents to remain alert and provide useful information that could assist security agencies.
In a separate development, a man identified as Ife was arrested for allegedly killing his mother in Supare-Akoko, located in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, said to be a health worker, was reportedly attacked in her home.
Community sources revealed that the suspect had earlier been seen holding a stick and, when questioned, claimed it was intended for cooking purposes.
A source disclosed that the deceased had briefly returned home when the incident occurred, noting that there had been prior concerns about the suspect’s behaviour.
Operatives of the state security outfit, Amotekun Corps, reportedly arrested the suspect and evacuated the victim’s body.
Authorities are yet to provide further details as investigations continue into both incidents.
