A former Director of the Directorate of Army Public Relations at Army Headquarters, Brigadier-General Mohammed Danjuma Yusuf (Rtd), has lost his wife, Hajiya Nana Hauwa Yusuf.

She reportedly died in the early hours of Sunday, May 31, 2026, at about 5:00 a.m. after suffering a heart attack.

Hajiya Hauwa was rushed to the emergency unit of the National Hospital in Abuja, where she was confirmed dead.

Before her retirement in 2024, she served as the Director of Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilisation in the Primary Health Care Department of the FCT Primary Health Care Board.

She was a native of Kogi State.

Reports indicated that she had recently celebrated her 62nd birthday on May 3, 2026, at her residence in Abuja in the company of family members, friends and colleagues.

Her son, Mohammed Dantala Yusuf, confirmed her death in a statement, saying she passed away at the hospital despite efforts made to save her life.

He also disclosed that she was buried on the same day at about 2:00 p.m. at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja in accordance with Islamic rites.
