According to claims accompanying the viral footage, the man was attempting to persuade traders and customers in the market to support Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections when the situation suddenly escalated into violence.
The video captured a chaotic scene inside a crowded market alley surrounded by shops and makeshift tarpaulin coverings, as a group of men confronted and physically attacked the victim.
In the footage, the man appeared overwhelmed as punches and slaps were thrown from different directions while dust filled the air during the struggle. He was seen attempting to shield himself while being pushed around by the crowd.
