A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has announced the suspension of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, over alleged misconduct.
The factional chairman of the party in the state, Raji Zumo, made this known while speaking to journalists in Yola. He said the two leaders were suspended over alleged gross indiscipline.
Zumo also said the suspension affects members of the executive council led by Sadiq Dasin, adding that those involved will face further disciplinary actions.
“ADC is not a personal property, and we will not allow any individual or group, no matter how highly placed, to hijack the party or turn it into a personal estate,” he said.
He further alleged that Atiku and Lawal had been trying to impose candidates on the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, such actions have damaged the image of the party, and he stressed that the faction will not accept any behaviour that could weaken its integrity.
