The Delta State Government has denied reports circulating on social media claiming that former Delta State governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, has died.
The clarification was issued by Ossai Success, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, after the rumour gained attention online.
According to Ossai, he immediately contacted members of Uduaghan’s family to verify the claim. He said he spoke directly with Uduaghan’s daughter, Orode Uduaghan, who confirmed that her father is alive and in good health.
The governor’s aide described the report as false and urged members of the public to avoid spreading information that has not been properly verified.
He expressed concern over the growing trend of sharing unconfirmed reports on social media, noting that such claims can cause distress to family members, friends and supporters.
Ossai stated that false reports about a person’s death are harmful and can create unnecessary anxiety among those who care about the individual.
He added that many people across Delta State hold the former governor in high regard, making the circulation of such rumours even more troubling.
He called on the public to disregard the report and to be more responsible when sharing information online.
He also urged people to respect the privacy and well-being of public figures and their families by confirming facts before posting or forwarding news.
The state government maintained that Uduaghan is alive and well, dismissing the death rumour as baseless.
