A three-storey building collapsed in the Alakija area of Lagos State on Thursday, leaving many people feared trapped beneath the debris.

The incident occurred around 11:40 a.m., causing panic among residents and people in the area.

Witnesses said the structure suddenly gave way, bringing down large sections of the building and raising concerns that several occupants could still be trapped inside.

At the time of the incident, the exact number of people caught in the collapse had not been confirmed.

Residents and passersby gathered at the scene as they waited for emergency officials and rescue teams to arrive and begin search operations.

The collapse attracted a large crowd, with many expressing concern over the fate of those believed to be under the rubble.

Some residents reportedly made initial efforts to assess the situation while awaiting professional rescue assistance.

As of the time this report was filed, no official information had been released regarding casualties or injuries. The cause of the building collapse also remained unknown.

Authorities are expected to launch full rescue efforts to locate and evacuate anyone trapped in the wreckage.

More details are expected to emerge as emergency responders begin operations and investigations into the incident continue.
