The Federal Government has appointed Ademola Adesokan as the substantive president of the National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN).
The confirmation was conveyed in a letter sent by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment to the chairman of the association’s Board of Trustees.
In the letter, the ministry approved the appointment of Adesokan’s election as the leader of the cashew growers and traders’ body.
According to the ministry, the decision was based on a consent judgment delivered on November 9, 2019, in a case filed at the Federal Capital Territory High Court.
The judgment upheld the 2007 Constitution of the National Cashew Association of Nigeria, under which the current leadership emerged.
The ministry stated that Adesokan’s tenure as president began on January 20, 2026. He is expected to serve an initial three-year term, which will end on January 19, 2029.
The letter also called on members of the Board of Trustees and other stakeholders within the association to recognise the new leadership and cooperate with Adesokan as he carries out his duties.
Copies of the ministry’s letter were forwarded to the national president of the Federation of Agricultural Commodity Associations of Nigeria as well as Adesokan.
