Political tension erupted across parts of Ibadan on Wednesday after former Oyo State lawmaker, Hon. Segun Olaleye, popularly known as “Radical Brother,” openly expressed anger following his defeat in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primary election.

The dramatic reaction, captured in several viral videos circulating on social media, showed the politician moving through major areas in Ibadan while publicly venting frustration over the outcome of the APC primaries.

Eyewitnesses said Olaleye, visibly emotional, first stormed the APC secretariat located in Oke Ado, where he reportedly directed harsh words and strong accusations at party leaders and stakeholders.

After leaving the party office, the former lawmaker reportedly proceeded to the residence of former Oyo State Governor, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, as political conversations intensified around the incident.

Olaleye, a former two-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, had previously defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) back to the APC in preparation for another political contest.

Sources familiar with the development disclosed that the defeat came as a major disappointment to the politician, who was believed to have invested heavily in the primary election process.

In the now-viral clips, Radical Brother was seen speaking passionately while making dramatic gestures and uttering emotional statements as he reacted to the election result.

The incident quickly sparked widespread reactions online and across Ibadan, with residents and political observers debating the growing tension surrounding APC primaries in Oyo State.

Many residents described the development as one of the most dramatic public reactions recorded so far in the state’s ongoing political season.

Olaleye is widely known in Oyo politics for his outspoken personality and active involvement in grassroots mobilisation over the years.

Beyond his time in the state assembly, he had also previously pursued a House of Representatives ambition, making him a familiar figure within the political structure of the state.

Political observers believe his reaction highlights the intense pressure and high political stakes often associated with party primaries in Oyo State, where internal contests frequently generate disputes among aspirants and supporters.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the APC leadership in Oyo State nor Senator Sharafadeen Alli had officially responded to the viral incident or Olaleye’s public outburst.

However, the videos have continued to dominate political discussions across Ibadan, with many party supporters and residents closely monitoring possible reactions from key political figures involved in the contest.

What you should know

Hon. Segun Olaleye, popularly known as “Radical Brother,” is a well-known political figure in Oyo State and previously served two terms in the Oyo State House of Assembly.

Over the years, he has remained active in grassroots politics and has contested for different political positions, including a House of Representatives seat.

His emotional reaction after losing the APC House of Assembly primary has drawn major public attention because such public outbursts are relatively uncommon among senior politicians in the state.

The incident also reflects rising tensions within party structures ahead of the 2027 elections, as several APC primaries across different states continue to generate controversy and dissatisfaction among aspirants.
