The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced another extension of the registration deadline for the 2026 Direct Entry application exercise.

According to the latest update, registration will now continue until May 22, 2026, giving prospective Direct Entry candidates additional time to complete their applications.

The fresh extension is expected to provide relief for applicants who have not been able to finalise their registration due to delays in securing the required credentials and other necessary documents.

This latest decision comes after JAMB had earlier extended the registration period to May 8 and approved additional accredited registration centres across the country to ease the application process.

The repeated extension highlights the Board’s effort to ensure that all qualified candidates are properly captured in the 2026 admission process without being disadvantaged by documentation challenges.

Prospective applicants have been strongly advised to take advantage of the new deadline and avoid waiting until the final days before completing their registration.

Candidates are also encouraged to carefully verify all submitted details and ensure that their supporting documents meet the Board’s requirements to avoid complications during the admission process.

Meanwhile, JAMB is expected to intensify preparations for the commencement of the 2026 admission exercise following the admission policy meeting scheduled for May 11, 2026.

The policy meeting is expected to provide further clarity on admission guidelines, institutional cut-off marks, and other procedures that will shape the 2026 admission cycle across tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The Board has consistently urged candidates to rely only on official registration channels and accredited centres for all registration-related activities.

What You Should Know

JAMB’s latest extension gives Direct Entry candidates more time to complete their applications before the new May 22 deadline.

The move is mainly aimed at helping applicants facing delays in obtaining required academic credentials and documentation. Candidates should use the extension wisely, complete registration early, and monitor official JAMB updates.

The upcoming admission policy meeting on May 11 will also be crucial, as it will outline key guidelines for the 2026 admission process.
