The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has successfully elected its state executives through a consensus arrangement, while calling on supporters to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming elections.
Addressing party members during the congress, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Aminu Bande, urged supporters to secure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively mobilise voters across the state and the country.
“I’m calling on you all to join hands with us and let’s vote out the APC in Kebbi and at the national level to save our people from the suffering brought upon them by the APC-led administration,” Bande said.
Also speaking at the event, former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, encouraged party loyalists to remain committed to the ADC’s cause, expressing confidence in the party’s growing strength.
“We prayed to Allah, and He answered our prayers. We asked God to add Gen. Bande, Chiroma Argungu, and Alhaji Ibrahim Mera to us, and He did so. Now, there is no retreat nor surrender. The ADC has come to stay in Kebbi State,” Malami said.

Earlier, the chairman of the congress committee sent from the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, Suleiman M. Membo, commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise, noting that the process was carried out smoothly across all levels.
According to him, congresses were successfully held in all 225 wards, 21 local government areas, and at the state level without any disputes, adhering strictly to the provisions of the Electoral Act.
The committee secretary, Tukur Aliyu Tartsa, moved the motion for the adoption of consensus in electing the executives, which was seconded by party chieftain Shehu Muhammed Koko.
Those affirmed as state executives include Engineer Sufiyanu Bala as Chairman, Musa Argungu as Vice Chairman, Abubakar Kalgo as Secretary, Haruna Haruna Jega as Publicity Secretary, and Dan Yaro Gwandu as Financial Secretary.
What you should know
The ADC’s consensus-based congress in Kebbi signals a strategic effort to strengthen internal unity ahead of upcoming elections.
With key political figures defecting from major parties like the PDP, the ADC appears to be positioning itself as a viable alternative to the ruling APC in the state. The emphasis on PVC registration and grassroots mobilisation reflects a broader campaign strategy aimed at increasing voter participation and challenging the current administration.
The peaceful conduct of the congress across all wards and local governments also reinforces the party’s readiness for competitive electoral engagement.
