The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced a temporary increase in train services along the Lagos–Ibadan corridor on Tuesday, May 26, to accommodate the expected surge in passenger movement ahead of the Sallah celebration.
Chief Public Relations Officer Mr. Callistus Unyimadu, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, said the corporation will run six trips on Tuesday instead of the usual four, with departures from Lagos at 7.45 a.m., 1.40 p.m., and 4.00 p.m., and from Ibadan at 8.00 a.m., 10.50 a.m., and 4.30 p.m.
The corporation clarified that the arrangement is strictly temporary. Normal four-trip Tuesday operations will resume after the celebrations.
In a related adjustment, the recently introduced six-trip Thursday schedule will be reduced to four trips on Thursday, May 28, before returning to full capacity the following week.
Also noteworthy is the return of the Osun State Government’s free Sallah train service, which will convey Osun indigenes from Iddo Station, Lagos, to Osogbo on Tuesday, May 26, at no cost to passengers.
The return trip from Osogbo to Lagos is scheduled for Thursday, May 28. The service is funded through a paid arrangement between the Osun State Government and the NRC.
The NRC urged passengers to take note of the adjusted schedules and wished all Nigerians a peaceful Sallah celebration.
