Uchechi Kanu, the wife of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has dismissed reports claiming that she filed for divorce from her husband.
Reports circulating online had alleged that Uchechi decided to end her marriage because of years of alleged infidelity, financial neglect, and interference from Kanu’s family members.
The reports further claimed that before his arrest in 2015, Kanu allegedly had a relationship with a woman identified as Chioma Amaryllis Ahaghotu, whom he reportedly met in 2014.
According to the reports, Chioma believed Kanu was single at the time and allegedly supported him financially before ending the relationship after discovering what she described as a pattern of deception and exploitation.
The reports also alleged that Uchechi, who married Kanu in 2009, had endured years of emotional distress due to his alleged extramarital affairs.
Reacting to the claims on her verified 𝕏 account, Uchechi mocked the reports with laughing emojis and denied filing for divorce.
She wrote, “Good conscious evening, my blessed Biafrans. I have just learned that I filed for Divorce while my husband is in prison 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.”
Meanwhile, Naija News reported that Nnamdi Kanu is currently serving a life imprisonment sentence at the Sokoto Custodial Centre after being convicted of terrorism in connection with his agitation for Biafra.
