Mr P Shuts Down P-Square Reunion Hopes

Peter Okoye, popularly known as “Mr P”, has delivered what appears to be the final verdict on any hopes of a P-Square reunion: “Not with me. Done and dusted.”

The statement, posted on X (formerly Twitter) late Friday, came in direct response to a fan’s plea: “Can we just have P-Square back?” Accompanied by a thumbs-down emoji, Mr P’s reply left little room for interpretation or negotiation.

For a generation of Nigerians who grew up on the infectious energy and chart-topping anthems of P-Square, the words carry the weight of finality. The twin brothers — Peter and Paul Okoye — once formed one half of Africa’s most electrifying dance-pop acts. Their high-octane performances, razor-sharp choreography, and hits like “Chop My Money,” “Do Me,” “If” and “E No Easy” dominated airwaves and dance floors across the continent for over a decade.

But behind the synchronized steps and harmonious vocals lay a relationship repeatedly strained by the pressures of fame, family dynamics and business disagreements.

The duo first went their separate ways in 2017 amid highly publicised controversies, including reported tensions involving their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye. Fans rejoiced when the twins reconciled in 2021, briefly reviving the P-Square brand with fresh music and performances. That truce, however, proved short-lived.

By 2024, the brothers had fallen out again. Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) publicly confirmed the split, stating bluntly that “there’s no more P-Square.” Both artistes have since carved out successful solo careers — Mr P with his signature energetic style and Paul with his own distinctive sound — but the shadow of their legendary partnership has continued to loom large over their individual journeys.

Fans have persistently held out hope for yet another comeback, flooding comment sections and social media with reunion requests. Mr P’s latest response appears designed to extinguish those expectations once and for all.

In previous interviews, Peter has spoken candidly about the emotional toll of the repeated rifts, acknowledging that while the brothers “tried” to make the partnership work again, the chemistry and trust that once defined P-Square could not be fully restored.

This blunt dismissal has already sparked heated reactions online, with some fans expressing disappointment and others praising Mr P for his honesty and refusal to string supporters along with false hope. A few have turned their attention to Paul, wondering whether he shares his twin’s firm stance.

As of now, neither brother has issued further statements.

P-Square may have given fans unforgettable memories and timeless hits, but as Mr P made clear this weekend: the group, at least with his participation, is officially done and dusted.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Peter Okoye (Mr P) has firmly shut the door on any possibility of a P-Square reunion, declaring “Not with me. Done and dusted” in response to a fan’s question on X.
