A member of the Kano State House of Assembly representing Makoda State Constituency, Muhammad Ahmad Tomas, has left the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmaker announced his return to the ruling party during a visit to the residence of the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, in Abuja on Monday.

Tomas was accompanied by the Chairman of Makoda Local Government Area, Isa Currency, and the Chairman of Dambatta Local Government Area, Jamilu Abubakar Dambatta.

Barau welcomed the lawmaker back to the APC and described the move as a significant development in Kano politics as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the Deputy Senate President, Tomas’ decision to return to the APC reflects his confidence in the party’s leadership and governance plans.

He said the lawmaker’s return would strengthen the party’s structure in Kano North Senatorial District and other parts of Kano State.

Barau also assured Tomas that he would enjoy the same rights and opportunities available to all members of the party.

He urged APC members across the state to remain united and work together as preparations for future elections continue.

The Deputy Senate President added that the party would continue efforts to strengthen its presence in Kano North, Kano State and across the country, stressing that cooperation among members would be key to achieving its goals.
