A retired military officer and former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State, Aminu Bande, has formally resigned from the party.

In a resignation letter dated April 5, 2026, and addressed to the Ward Chairman of PDP Nasarawa I in Birnin Kebbi, Bande stated that his decision takes immediate effect.

The former governorship aspirant explained that his exit followed extensive reflection and consultations with associates as well as key stakeholders.

According to him, the move was necessary to align with what he described as the collective decision of his people to embrace a more stable political platform—one he believes can better promote good, just, and fair governance in the state and across Nigeria.

Although Bande did not reveal his next political destination, he hinted that further announcements regarding his future plans would be made soon.

Aminu Bande was the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 election in Kebbi State, making his resignation a notable development in the state’s political landscape.
