Two decades after topping the Billboard Hot 100 with his debut hit, Chris Brown continues to solidify his legacy in the music industry. On June 6, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awarded the R&B superstar 21 new certifications, further enriching his already impressive collection of accolades.

The certifications span a range of Brown’s hits, showcasing his enduring appeal. Leading the pack are “Loyal” and “Forever,” both certified 8x platinum, followed by “Kiss Kiss” and “Go Crazy” at 6x platinum. “New Flame” and “Deuces” each earned 4x-platinum status.

Additional tracks, including “Back to Sleep,” “Don’t Wake Me Up,” “Grass Ain’t Greener,” “Don’t Judge Me,” “Next to You,” “Residuals,” “No BS,” “Drunk Texting,” “Hope You Do,” “Beg for It,” “Who’s Gonna,” “Till I Die,” “2012,” “Should’ve Kissed You,” and “City Girls,” also received certifications, reflecting Brown’s consistent output over the years.

This latest achievement follows Brown’s third diamond certification for “Look at Me Now,” featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, which reached the 10-million-unit mark in the U.S. The milestone underscores his ability to produce chart-topping hits across multiple eras.

However, Brown’s professional triumphs have been overshadowed by legal troubles. On May 15, the singer was arrested in the U.K. on suspicion of grievous bodily harm stemming from an alleged assault at a London nightclub in February 2023.

Initially denied bail, Brown secured his release on May 21 with a $6.7 million bail package, ensuring his upcoming Breezy Bowl XX stadium tour remains on schedule. The tour kicks off in Amsterdam on June 8, with the U.S. leg beginning in Miami on July 30.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Chris Brown’s latest haul of 21 RIAA certifications, including 8x platinum for “Loyal” and “Forever,” underscores his remarkable staying power in the music industry, two decades after his first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1.

Despite legal hurdles, including a recent U.K. arrest tied to an alleged 2023 assault, Brown’s $6.7 million bail secured his freedom, keeping his Breezy Bowl XX stadium tour on track, starting June 8 in Amsterdam.
