Afrobeat legend Innocent “2Face” Idibia has moved to quash speculation that he and his estranged wife, actress Annie Idibia, have rekindled their marriage, a claim that spread rapidly across Nigerian social media over the past week.
The singer addressed the rumours in an Instagram Stories post, explaining that the footage fueling the speculation was old and had been misrepresented. His statement came just hours after Annie issued her own denial, reinforcing the couple’s shared message that nothing has changed between them.
The reunion rumours began circulating on Friday, July 17, 2026, after old footage of the pair looking affectionate together at a nightclub resurfaced online.
The clip appeared to originate from a claim by an X user who alleged that 2Face had linked up with Annie at a Lagos club, where they were seen kissing and hugging while vibing to his music. The footage spread so widely that some social media users went as far as speculating the former couple was expecting a third child together.
Annie addressed the speculation first, in a post shared to her Instagram Stories on Monday, stating plainly that the circulating videos were old and being used to spread false information.
Part of her message read: “Old videos circulating everywhere, false news everywhere.” In a follow-up post, she shared a fresh video carrying a visible date stamp apparently intended to underline just how outdated the viral clip was, with fans noting her hairstyle in the new footage differed from the one in the old video.
She also cautioned her followers against taking everything they see on social media at face value.
Not long after Annie’s clarification, 2Face echoed her position in his own Instagram Stories post, confirming that the video making the rounds predated the current speculation, effectively closing the loop on the story from both sides.
Annie and 2Baba, who share two daughters, announced the end of their marriage in January 2025 after more than a decade together.
Since the split, 2Face has gone on to marry politician Natasha Osaworu, while he has continued to be publicly seen spending time with his children, including a widely shared video from mid-July showing him with Annie’s daughters, Isabella and Olivia, alongside his sons from another relationship.
Despite the very public end of their marriage, both stars have continued to make joint appearances around their children, a dynamic that appears to have made this latest round of reconciliation rumours all the more believable to fans, even though both parties insist there has been no reunion.
