The University of Jos (UNIJOS) has announced the continuation of its first semester examinations from April 13, 2026, following the postponement of some papers due to security concerns in Plateau State.

The decision was reached after a management meeting held on April 3, where officials reviewed the impact of recent threats to student safety that led to an extension of the Easter holiday break.

In a statement issued by Emmanuel Madugu, Deputy Registrar for Information and Public Relations, the university confirmed that all examinations will resume on the new date, beginning with those earlier scheduled for March 30.

Students were advised to contact their respective Faculty Examination Timetable Officers for further clarification regarding their schedules.

University management reassured students still on campus that security measures have been significantly reinforced to ensure their safety. They also urged students to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the institution’s security division.

According to the statement, normal academic activities are expected to fully resume from April 7, 2026.

The university further emphasized its ongoing collaboration with security agencies to maintain peace and prevent any disruptions within the campus environment.

What you should know

UNIJOS has adjusted its academic calendar due to security concerns in Plateau State, rescheduling exams to April 13, 2026.

The move aims to ensure student safety while allowing academic activities to continue smoothly. With increased security presence and collaboration with law enforcement, the university is prioritizing a safe learning environment.

Students are encouraged to stay alert and follow official updates as the institution works to maintain stability on campus.
