Nigerian Governor Set to join ADC

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has announced plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He said the move will allow him to form a stronger opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor shared this decision while receiving a delegation from the ADC, led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, at the Government House in Bauchi.

Bala Mohammed explained that he and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had worked to reconcile differences within the PDP. However, efforts to unify the party were repeatedly blocked, according to him.

The governor suggested that leadership struggles within the PDP have left the party weakened and unable to function effectively.

He added that the ADC leadership, under David Mark, invited him to bring his experience in opposition politics to the new party.
Bala Mohammed said the move will enable him to continue engaging in active opposition, away from the challenges he faced within the PDP.

This development signals a major shift in Bauchi State politics and may influence broader party alignments ahead of future elections.
