The All Progressives Congress in Lagos has expressed deep shock and sadness following the sudden death of its newly re-elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the party chieftain passed away less than 24 hours after he was returned to office during the Lagos State APC Congress held at Onikan Stadium.

Yesiro had just secured another term as the party’s assistant publicity secretary and was expected to join other newly elected members of the Lagos APC executive who were scheduled to be formally inaugurated at the party’s state secretariat on Thursday.

Reacting to the development, the party described the incident as a tragic and painful loss to its leadership and members.

In a statement released on Wednesday in Lagos by the party’s spokesman, Seye Oladejo, the organisation said it received the news of Yesiro’s death with deep shock.

Oladejo said the late party official died shortly after he had been given the responsibility to continue serving within the party’s State Executive Council.

“The Lagos State Chapter of the APC received with profound shock and deep sorrow the news of the sudden demise of our newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Hon. Karamo Yesiro.

“Yesiro’s death came at a time when his energy, commitment and passion for progressive politics were most needed.

“Having just been entrusted with the responsibility of serving in the State Executive Council, he embodied dedication, loyalty and an unwavering belief in the ideals of our party,” Oladejo said.

The spokesman added that although his time in the new role ended unexpectedly, the late party figure had already made a strong impression among members and colleagues within the party.

He noted that Yesiro was widely known for his dedication and readiness to contribute to party activities and political engagement in the state.

“His enthusiasm, humility and readiness to serve left a lasting impression on colleagues and members alike.

“He was a vibrant party man whose contributions to the growth and stability of the APC in Lagos State will not be forgotten,” Oladejo added.

The Lagos APC leadership also used the opportunity to extend its condolences to the family of the deceased as well as to his political allies, supporters and friends who are mourning the loss.

“On behalf of the leadership and entire membership of the Lagos APC, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, political associates, friends and supporters during this difficult time.

“We pray that Almighty God grants his family the strength to bear this irreparable loss and grants his soul eternal rest,” the statement said.

The party further stated that its members across the state remain united in grief over the passing of the late assistant publicity secretary.

“Karamo Yesiro will be remembered for his service, commitment and belief in the progressive cause. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” Oladejo said.
