President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday administered the oath of office to Tunji Disu, formally confirming him as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police.
The ceremony was held at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja shortly before the start of the Federal Executive Council meeting. With the oath-taking, Disu officially assumed office as the substantive head of the Nigeria Police Force.
During the same session, the President also swore in six newly appointed commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission and two commissioners of the Federal Civil Service Commission, expanding the leadership structure of key federal institutions.

The occasion drew a large gathering of cabinet members, senior government officials, and relatives of the newly appointed officers. Moments after the brief but symbolic ceremony, the Federal Executive Council meeting commenced with a strong turnout of council members.
Among those present were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Adviser, and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Esther Walson-Jack, alongside several ministers.
Disu’s swearing-in marks a significant step in the ongoing reorganisation of the country’s security leadership, coming at a time when the administration continues to confront evolving security challenges nationwide.
