Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has removed six commissioners from his cabinet as part of a reshuffle aimed at strengthening governance and bringing fresh ideas into his administration.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Labaran Magaji, announced the development while briefing journalists after the State Executive Council meeting held in Lafia.

The affected commissioners headed the Ministries of Works, Women Affairs, Information, Lands, Science and Technology, and Security.

Magaji explained that the commissioners were asked to step aside to make way for fresh ideas and reposition the government for improved service delivery during the remaining period of the administration.

He, however, said the decision was not because the affected officials performed poorly, adding that the government appreciated their commitment, efficiency and contributions.

Magaji said, “The reshuffle is intended to rejig the system, inject fresh energy into governance and ensure that the administration delivers fully on its mandate before the end of its tenure.”

He added that the former commissioners would still remain part of the government and could be assigned other responsibilities in the future.

According to him, the names of their replacements will be announced through the appropriate channels.

The SSG also disclosed that the State Executive Council discussed ways to increase Nasarawa State’s internally generated revenue by taking advantage of investments in the lithium sector.

The discussion followed the recent inauguration of one of Africa’s largest lithium processing plants in the state, where President Bola Tinubu was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
