In a landmark moment for Latin music and female artists worldwide, Shakira was presented with the first-ever Billboard Global Touring Icon Award on Monday during the 2025 Billboard Live Music Summit, recognizing her extraordinary achievements on the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour.

The honor comes as the Colombian superstar’s tour continues to rewrite the record books. According to Billboard Boxscore data, the first 64 dates of the Live Nation-produced tour generated a staggering $327.4 million in ticket sales, with 2.5 million fans filling stadiums across multiple continents.

The tour, which includes 82 scheduled dates, has already secured its place in history as the highest-grossing Latin tour ever by a female artist and the second highest-grossing Latin tour of all time, trailing only Luis Miguel’s 2023-24 run that earned $409.5 million.

The award was presented by Marty Hom, Shakira’s longtime tour director and an industry veteran who has worked with legendary acts including Fleetwood Mac, Barbra Streisand, and The Rolling Stones. “We get to witness every day how hard you work to do the best show possible for all your fans,” Hom said during the ceremony.

Receiving the news backstage during rehearsals for her recent performance in Cali, Colombia — her first in that city in two decades — Shakira graciously shared the recognition with her entire team. “Working as hard as I do,” she acknowledged the contributions of her dancers, band members, and crew who have helped bring the ambitious production to life.

The numbers tell a story of unprecedented success. In Mexico City alone, Shakira’s historic 12-night residency at Estadio GNP Seguros (formerly Foro Sol) drew 65,000 fans per night, totaling 780,000 tickets sold, according to promoter OCESA. The feat underscores the 47-year-old artist’s enduring appeal and her ability to command massive venues night after night.

“It’s encouraging and inspiring,” Shakira reflected on the tour’s success. “I never thought, not even in my wildest dreams, that I would fill every stadium. It’s incredible and motivating at the same time. I feel like I’m just starting my career, and it’s crazy because it’s been 30 years.”

Indeed, for an artist who has been a global force since the mid-1990s, the tour represents a career renaissance. Shakira emphasized the dedication behind the spectacle: “This has been the best tour of my life, it’s been just as we dreamt it. We worked so hard, overcoming every obstacle, it hasn’t been easy, we worked many, many long hours to make everything as good as people deserve it.”

Speaking candidly from her dressing room in Cali, Shakira also opened up about her personal priorities. “I’m completely dedicated to my boys and my career,” she said, referring to her two sons. “That’s all I need, my boys, my fans and my music, and creating, it’s fulfilling a big part of my life right now.”

The Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour takes its name from Shakira’s latest album, which translates to “Women Don’t Cry Anymore” — a title that has resonated deeply with fans as an anthem of resilience and empowerment. The tour’s commercial and critical success demonstrates not only Shakira’s star power but also the growing dominance of Latin music in the global touring market.

As the tour continues toward its conclusion, Shakira’s historic achievement sets a new benchmark for female artists in Latin music and cements her legacy as one of the most successful touring acts of her generation.

After 30 years in the industry, the Colombian superstar describes this as her best tour yet, proving her enduring star power and setting a new benchmark for women in Latin music.
