Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, have rejected a claim that there is a plan to remove the traditional ruler from his position, describing the report as false.
The reaction came on Sunday through their media aides after former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, made the allegation on social media.
Fayose had claimed that Makinde was working towards removing Ladoja and also suggested that the monarch could be questioned over his absence at a recent ceremony in Ibadan where High Chief Sharafadeen Ali was installed as an Oba.
Responding to the claim, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, said the state government had never considered such a move at any time.
He stated that the allegation lacked truth and advised the public to be careful about the kind of information they accept, especially when it comes from unreliable sources.
Oyelade also noted that false claims often spread during periods of political tension and warned that such actions can affect public trust and the political space.
On the part of the Olubadan, his media aide, Adeola Oloko, also dismissed the report, describing it as mere speculation.
He explained that there is no disagreement between Governor Makinde and Oba Ladoja that could lead to such a situation.
Oloko added that there is no conflict between both leaders and said it would be wrong for anyone to take the claim seriously, as there is no issue between them.
