Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the season, bringing an end to a remarkable nine-year spell at Anfield.
The 33-year-old forward, who joined the club from AS Roma in 2017, has made 435 appearances and scored 255 goals, making him the third-highest scorer in Liverpool’s history.

During his time at the club, Salah played a key role in multiple successes, including Premier League title wins and the 2019 UEFA Champions League triumph.
He also secured several individual honours, including four Premier League Golden Boot awards, while helping Liverpool lift trophies such as the Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, and League Cups.
Salah’s departure follows a challenging season, with the forward currently sidelined due to injury and scoring just five league goals so far, far below his 29-goal tally in the previous campaign. His future at the club had been under scrutiny after a reported fallout with manager Arne Slot, during which he claimed the club had thrown him “under the bus” after being benched.
In an emotional farewell message shared on social media, Salah said, “Hello everyone. Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.”

Reflecting on his time at the club, he added, “I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, and these people would become part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club. It’s a passion, it’s a history, it’s a spirit.”
The Egyptian star expressed gratitude to teammates and fans, noting that their support during both successful and difficult periods would remain unforgettable.
“Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best time of my life. I will always be one of you. This club will always be my home,” he said.
Liverpool also confirmed the development, describing Salah’s time at the club as an “illustrious” chapter that will come to a close at the end of the 2025–26 season.
Despite his impending departure, the club noted there is still time to celebrate his contributions, with the current campaign ongoing.

Salah was recently forced off during Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Galatasaray, a result that secured their place in the Champions League quarter-finals. However, he missed the subsequent 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, which dented Liverpool’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
His exit had seemed increasingly likely since December, when he publicly questioned his relationship with the manager after being left on the bench, stating, “I don’t know why, but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club.”
