Super Falcons star striker, Asisat Oshoala, has dismissed swirling rumours that she has retired from international football.

Speaking to reporters in Morocco following Nigeria’s thrilling 3-2 victory over the host nation in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final, the six-time African Player of the Year firmly denied the speculation.

“I don’t know where that came from but agenda must agend. I get it, but I’m not bothered. I’m still here. I’m still playing. I’m still doing my job. That’s what I’m focused on,” Oshoala said.

The 30-year-old was part of Nigeria’s final 23-player squad and played a crucial supporting role throughout the tournament. Oshoala’s international journey began in 2013 and gained momentum in 2014 when she made headlines at the U-20 Women’s World Cup and led Nigeria to victory in the African Women’s Championship.

She remains the only African player to score in three consecutive FIFA Women’s World Cups and now holds four WAFCON titles—in 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2024—solidifying her legacy in Nigerian football.

What You Should Know

Asisat Oshoala remains an active and committed member of the Super Falcons. Despite online speculation, the iconic striker confirmed she has not retired.

With four WAFCON titles and World Cup history to her name, Oshoala continues to play a vital role in Nigeria’s football success story.
