The Federal Government has renamed the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway after President Bola Tinubu, making it the latest public facility to bear his name since he assumed office in May 2023.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced the decision on Thursday, saying the 750-kilometre highway was named after the President because the project was first conceived during Tinubu’s tenure as Governor of Lagos State about 27 years ago.

According to Umahi, the coastal highway was planned long before Tinubu became President.

The latest development adds to a growing number of roads, public buildings, educational institutions and government facilities that have been renamed or established in honour of the President.

Below is the list of major public assets named after President Tinubu since he assumed office:

Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway

The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway became the latest project to be named after Tinubu following the announcement by the Minister of Works on July 16, 2026.

Umahi said the decision recognises the President’s vision for the project, which dates back to his time as Governor of Lagos State.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna

In March 2024, Niger State Governor Umar Bago renamed the Abubakar Imam International Airport in Minna as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport.

The governor said the decision was in recognition of Tinubu’s support for the state.

The move attracted public attention because the airport had only recently been named after the late writer, Abubakar Imam.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, Abuja

In May 2024, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, renamed the Abuja Southern Parkway as Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way after the road was reconstructed.

The road connects the Christian Centre to Ring Road One in Abuja.

National Assembly Library

Also in May 2024, the National Assembly named its newly completed library after President Tinubu.

The library was initiated during the Ninth Assembly, completed by the Tenth Assembly and inaugurated by the President.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex

In December 2024, the Nigeria Immigration Service named its command and control centre the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC).

The agency said the facility would serve as a key centre for border security, migration management and technological innovation.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic

In January 2025, the Federal Government approved the establishment of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic in Gwarinpa, Abuja.

The institution was created to provide technical, vocational and entrepreneurial education.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks

Later in January 2025, the Nigerian Army named its newly completed barracks in Asokoro after the President.

The Army said the decision was made to “give honour to whom honour is due.”

The barracks includes residential quarters, places of worship, sporting facilities and other operational infrastructure.

Tinubu International Conference Centre

In June 2025, the Federal Capital Territory Administration renamed the Abuja International Conference Centre as the Tinubu International Conference Centre after renovating the facility.

The conference centre, one of Nigeria’s major venues for official events and international conferences, also had several of its halls renamed after senior government officials.

With the renaming of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the number of major public infrastructure projects and institutions named after President Tinubu since he assumed office has risen to at least eight.
