The member representing Bindawa/Mani Federal Constituency of Katsina State in the House of Representatives, Ahmed Yusuf Doro, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His defection was announced during Thursday’s plenary after Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, read a letter formally notifying lawmakers of the decision.

In the letter, dated July 18, 2026, Doro said he decided to leave the APC after consulting widely with people in his constituency and carefully reviewing the political platform he believed would better support his work as their representative.

According to the lawmaker, joining the PDP will strengthen his ability to serve the people of Bindawa/Mani Federal Constituency more effectively.

Doro also assured that his defection would not affect his commitment to carrying out his legislative responsibilities in the 10th House of Representatives.

He thanked the leadership and members of the APC for the support they gave him during his time in the party.

The lawmaker also pledged to continue promoting policies and projects that would improve representation and encourage sustainable development in his constituency under the PDP.

His defection officially took effect on July 18, 2026, in line with the notice he submitted to the Speaker.
