The Federal Government has prohibited the use of roadblocks for the collection of taxes and levies nationwide.
The announcement was made in Abuja by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, during the unveiling of new regulations guiding the Presumptive Tax framework for the informal sector.
According to Edun, the reform is aimed at stimulating economic growth by introducing a system that is fair, transparent and growth-oriented.

He stated that the Presumptive Tax model is structured to simplify compliance for operators in the informal sector while ensuring equity in tax administration. The framework, he added, will exempt nano and small-scale businesses in order to encourage their survival, expansion and long-term contribution to the economy.
The minister emphasised that eliminating roadside tax collection practices is part of broader efforts to sanitise revenue administration, reduce harassment of small business operators and create a more predictable business environment across the country.
The new measures are expected to reshape how informal sector taxation is handled, with a focus on accountability and economic inclusion.
