It marked the first time the Premier League’s bottom club had beaten the reigning champions since Crystal Palace F.C. defeated Chelsea F.C. in 2017.
Liverpool, who have now conceded 14 goals in the final 15 minutes of matches this season, remain fifth. But their hopes of securing a Champions League place have been dented, with Chelsea able to leapfrog them if results go their way.
Emotional Tribute to Diogo Jota
Both sets of supporters paused in the 18th minute to honour Diogo Jota, who wore that shirt number during his time at Wolves before joining Liverpool. The Portugal forward died in a car crash in Spain last year.
The tribute appeared to quieten the atmosphere in a scrappy first half before the late drama unfolded.
Liverpool will have an immediate opportunity for redemption when they return to Molineux for an FA Cup fifth-round clash on Friday.
Everton Ease Past Burnley
Everton F.C. ended a poor run of home form with a 2-0 victory over Burnley F.C. at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
James Tarkowski, facing his former club, opened the scoring with a powerful header from a James Garner free-kick in the 32nd minute. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall doubled the lead on the hour mark, finishing from close range after being set up by Iliman Ndiaye.
Everton remain in the hunt for a potential European spot, while Burnley are now eight points from safety with nine matches remaining.

Sunderland A.F.C. secured a 1-0 win at Leeds United F.C., with Habib Diarra converting a penalty on their first Premier League visit to Elland Road since 2002.
Meanwhile, AFC Bournemouth and Brentford F.C. played out a goalless draw at the Vitality Stadium, a result that did little to boost either side’s European ambitions.
