Following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, as Acting National Chairman.
Ganduje stepped down from the role effective immediately, citing the need to attend to pressing personal matters.
His resignation was conveyed in a letter to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) via the National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru. In the letter, Ganduje expressed his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to lead the ruling party.
APC spokesman Felix Morka confirmed that President Tinubu directed Dalori to assume the role in an acting capacity, pending the convening of the National Executive Committee (NEC), which is expected to formally ratify the new leadership.
Ganduje, who became APC chairman in August 2023 after Abdullahi Adamu’s exit, had been a contentious figure within the party. His appointment, considered by some to be a breach of the party’s zoning principles, was met with internal resistance.
Prior to his role as APC chairman, Ganduje served as governor of Kano State from 2015 to 2023. He was appointed Board Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in January 2025 and was reportedly under consideration for a non-career ambassadorial position.
