Shallipopi, whose song “Cast” with OdumoduBlvck won Best Rap Song, expressed frustration with the event on X, stating he would skip future ceremonies. He said,” The next one, if una see me, make I bend”. He even dismissed the Best Rap Single award, suggesting it be given to others.
Shallipopi, also nominated for Next Rated, was a major highlight at the event, which sparked renewed criticism of the Headies’ declining prestige due to organizational issues.
The “Back to Base” themed event marked the awards’ return to Nigeria after two years in the U.S. Performers included OdumoduBlvck, KCEE, Flavour, Qing Madi, Ayo Maff, Juma Jux, and Innoss B.
