Peller Opens Up About Being Molested as a Child

Popular Nigerian TikTok streamer and content creator Habeeb Hamzat, known to millions of fans as Peller, has opened up about a harrowing chapter of his childhood, disclosing that he was sexually abused at the age of 12 by a woman roughly three decades his senior.

The 19-year-old disclosed a candid sit-down on The Honest Bunch podcast, co-hosted by on-air personality Daddy Freeze.

A clip from the conversation, in which Peller’s voice cracked with emotion as he described the encounter, has since spread rapidly across Nigerian social media, sparking a wave of commentary on a subject that remains largely taboo in the country: the sexual abuse of boys.

“Let me tell you, when I lose my virginity, na one old woman. She raped me. She molested me. I need justice for Peller,” Peller told his hosts, speaking in the Pidgin English familiar to his massive online following. When Daddy Freeze pressed him for specifics, asking the ages of both parties involved, Peller did not hesitate: “She’s like 40 years, I was like 12.”

According to his account, the abuse took place at a friend’s house. His friend’s mother was away at the time, and the woman responsible was, by his description, a family friend, someone his friend’s mother trusted. “I visited my friend’s place, and my friend’s mom wasn’t at home.

The woman that molested me was a friend to my friend’s mother,” he recalled. “I was on my own watching a film on my phone when the woman carry me.”

Peller went on to describe the psychological toll the incident took on him in the years that followed, telling his hosts that ordinary school days became a source of dread and public embarrassment as he struggled with involuntary physical reactions and bouts of uncontrollable crying whenever female students or teachers walked past him in the hallway.

Beyond the podcast clip itself, further reporting on the interview indicates that Peller said he never disclosed the abuse to his parents at the time, in part because they had explicitly warned him against visiting that particular friend’s house, leaving him afraid of the consequences of admitting where he had been.

He has also linked the abuse to a subsequent struggle with compulsive behavior that persisted into his adolescence.

The revelation has triggered an outpouring of reaction online, with many commenters pointing to a broader culture of silence around male sexual abuse victims in Nigeria, where survivors, particularly boys and men, often face disbelief or ridicule rather than support when they come forward.

Several social media users drew on their own experiences to underscore how common such abuse is and how rarely discussed it remains.

As of this report, it is unclear whether Peller intends to pursue any formal legal action over the allegations, and Anthropic, rather, none of the parties named in his account have publicly responded.

Peller, born Hamzat Habeeb Adelaja, has built a substantial online following as a livestreamer and is also known for his high-profile relationship with fellow content creator Jarvis, whom he is set to marry in a white wedding ceremony next month.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Peller’s decision to publicly share that he was sexually abused as a 12-year-old boy by a woman nearly 40 years old is significant not just as a celebrity disclosure but as a rare, high-profile challenge to Nigeria’s culture of silence around male sexual abuse.

His account of trauma, fear of telling his parents, and lasting psychological effects highlights how boys are often overlooked as victims and discouraged from speaking up.
