US Closes Embassy In Nigeria

The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will not open on Friday, July 3, 2026.

The closure is to mark the United States Independence Day celebration.

The announcement was shared on Thursday by the United States Mission Nigeria through its official communication channels.

The offices said normal services will resume after the holiday period.

The United States Independence Day is observed every year on July 4.

It marks the day in 1776 when the 13 American colonies declared freedom from Great Britain.

Because of the holiday, both diplomatic missions in Abuja and Lagos will pause public services for the day.
