Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle involving three commissioners as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery across the state.

The governor also approved the appointment of three officials into key government positions.

The development was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, through the Senior Special Assistant on Media in the Office of the SSG, Suleman Ahmad Tudu.

According to the statement, the changes are aimed at repositioning critical ministries for improved efficiency and effective implementation of the administration’s Rescue Agenda.

Under the reshuffle, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Abdulrahman Tumbido, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Kasimu Yahya Kaura, has been moved to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, while Hon. Tasiu Musa Shinkafi has been transferred from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The state government said the redeployments take immediate effect.

The affected commissioners have been directed to complete their handover processes within one week.

Nakwada explained that the reshuffle is intended to improve coordination among the affected ministries and enhance performance in line with Governor Lawal’s development priorities.

He added that the administration remains committed to strengthening public institutions and ensuring that ministries effectively carry out their responsibilities.

In a related development, Governor Lawal approved the appointment of Dr. Muhammad Habibu Yelwa as Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Substance Abuse and Control Agency.

The governor also appointed Dr. Usman Ismaila Gusau as Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Livestock Agency.

Additionally, Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed Nakwada was reappointed as the State Project Coordinator of the Zamfara State Agricultural and Community Development Project.

The SSG said the appointments form part of ongoing efforts to deepen government reforms and improve service delivery in critical sectors.

According to him, the appointments are expected to strengthen public health initiatives, agriculture, livestock development and community-based programmes across the state.

He urged the new appointees to bring innovation, dedication and renewed commitment to their responsibilities.

Nakwada further stated that they are expected to align with the administration’s development agenda and contribute meaningfully to the implementation of Governor Lawal’s Rescue Agenda.

The state government maintained that the cabinet reshuffle and appointments reflect the governor’s determination to reposition the administration for better results.

It added that the affected ministries and agencies are expected to intensify efforts toward delivering programmes and policies that will positively impact residents of the state.
