Polaris Customers Warned of VULTe Disruptions from April 3–6

Polaris Bank  has announced scheduled maintenance on its popular digital banking platform, VULTe, which will restrict access for several hours each night from Friday, April 3, through Monday, April 6, 2026.

The bank notified customers via email on Friday that the VULTe mobile app and associated services will experience limited functionality nightly between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. the following morning. During these 10-hour windows, users may face difficulties logging in, transferring funds, paying bills, or performing any other digital transactions through the platform.

The maintenance, according to the bank, is a proactive step “as part of our commitment to enhancing the banking experience.” Polaris Bank stated that the upgrade aims to improve overall performance and deliver a smoother user experience once completed.

“During this time, VULTe may experience limited access, but we have provided PolarisXperience as an alternative,” the bank assured in the notice. Customers were urged to visit the bank’s website to onboard onto PolarisXperience or access their existing accounts through the internet banking platform, which is expected to remain fully operational throughout the period.

The timing of the maintenance — coinciding with the Easter public holidays  when many Nigerians travel, shop, or handle urgent financial matters — has drawn mixed reactions.

While some customers appreciate the bank’s forward-looking approach to system improvements, others have expressed frustration at potential disruptions during a period when physical bank branches are typically closed or operating on limited hours.

Periodic system maintenance has become standard practice across Nigeria’s banking industry as lenders invest heavily in digital infrastructure to handle growing transaction volumes and meet rising customer expectations for seamless 24/7 service.

However, such downtimes often test customer patience, especially when alternatives are not as familiar or convenient as the primary app.

This is not the first time a major Nigerian bank has faced backlash over planned or unplanned digital disruptions:

– In late September to early October 2024, Zenith Bank carried out an IT infrastructure upgrade that led to prolonged outages across its mobile app, USSD, internet banking, and corporate platforms.

What was initially communicated as a short maintenance window stretched beyond 48 hours in some cases, prompting widespread complaints on social media and an eventual public apology from the bank once services were restored.

– Similarly, in September 2025, FirstBank experienced a temporary but significant disruption affecting its FirstMobile app, FirstOnline platform, and the *894# USSD service.

The bank quickly acknowledged the issue and worked to resolve it, but the outage underscored how heavily Nigerians now rely on digital channels for everyday banking.

Polaris Bank’s decision to schedule the work during off-peak night hours and provide PolarisXperience as a backup appears designed to minimize broader impact. The bank has also emphasized that core banking services will not be entirely interrupted, and customers can still explore other options such as the *833# USSD code or visiting branches where available.

As the Easter weekend progresses, affected customers are advised to plan ahead: complete urgent transactions before 10:00 p.m., familiarize themselves with PolarisXperience, or use alternative payment channels where possible.

Polaris Bank has not yet indicated when full normal service on VULTe will resume after the final maintenance window early on Tuesday, April 7, but industry observers expect a smooth restoration given the scheduled and controlled nature of the exercise.

For now, the message from the bank is clear: this short-term inconvenience is an investment in a more reliable and efficient digital banking future. Whether customers will view the trade-off as worthwhile may depend on how seamlessly the alternative platform performs over the next few nights.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Polaris Bank customers should note that VULTe will have limited access nightly from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. from Friday, April 3 to Monday, April 6, 2026, due to scheduled system maintenance during the Easter holidays.

Use PolarisXperience (via the bank’s website) as the reliable alternative to avoid disruptions in transfers, payments, and other services.

Plan ahead — this short inconvenience aims to deliver a better platform afterward.
