Nigerian rapper, Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has taken a swipe at the organisers of the prestigious Headies Awards, accusing them of failing to deliver on a promise to hand him a brand-new car.
The rapper, who clinched the coveted Next Rated Artiste award at the April 2025 edition of the ceremony, was entitled to a car gift as part of the prize package. However, months after the event, the artist claims he has yet to receive the promised reward.
Taking to his X handle on Saturday, Odumodu jokingly reminded the organisers of the unfulfilled promise, writing: “I DON FORGET SAY I WIN CAR 😂 HEADIES WEY MY CAR?”
This public callout marks yet another contentious moment between the rapper and the awards body. Earlier in April, Odumodu made headlines during the awards night after his microphone was abruptly cut off mid-speech. Unfazed, he defiantly remained on stage until the mic was restored, drawing a wave of applause from the audience.
In his speech, the 31-year-old rapper encouraged young artists to remain resilient in the face of setbacks, citing his journey as proof that persistence pays off. He further declared that his music had resonated with Nigerians despite industry odds, proclaiming that “the machine is coming.”
After the event, Odumodu suggested the microphone incident was triggered by his open mention of Jesus Christ. He argued that had he mentioned a political figure instead, the organisers would not have muted him.
He posted on X: “I was talking about Jesus, and they tried to shut me down. I am a hundred percent sure that if I was talking about His Excellency Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, I would not have been cut off. I genuinely have no bad blood towards the Headies; rather, I am grateful they put my mic back on to spread the gospel. Jesus is king. He is before now and forever.”
As at the time of filing this report, the organisers of the Headies Awards have yet to respond to Odumodublvck’s fresh accusations.
