The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has displayed the names of 19 presidential candidates and their running mates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The commission had earlier announced that it published the credentials of the presidential candidates on Saturday as part of preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
According to INEC, the candidates’ details, contained in Form EC9, are now on display at its offices across the country to allow members of the public to examine the information submitted by the political parties.
The commission said the publication was carried out in line with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026.
The law requires INEC to publish the personal details, affidavits and credentials submitted by candidates within 21 days of receiving their nominations from political parties.
INEC explained that the exercise is aimed at promoting transparency and giving Nigerians the opportunity to verify the educational qualifications and other information submitted by candidates seeking elective office.
The commission added that the documents are available for public inspection at its offices nationwide, including state and local government offices.
According to INEC, the display allows interested members of the public to review the information submitted by the 19 presidential candidates and their running mates before the election.
The commission also said anyone who believes a candidate submitted false information or documents can take the appropriate legal action as provided under the Electoral Act.
The list of the 19 presidential candidates, their running mates and political parties was also published by INEC.
