Former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is reportedly preparing to leave the New Nigeria Peoples Party and join the African Democratic Congress.

This development follows a recent ruling by the Court of Appeal, which confirmed the leadership of a faction of the NNPP led by Agbo Major, instead of the group linked to Kwankwaso and headed by Ajuji Ahmed.

The decision has reshaped the party’s internal structure and appears to have influenced his next political move.

Kwankwaso is said to have asked Buba Galadima to begin discussions with ADC leaders as part of efforts to secure a new political platform. T

alks are ongoing and no final agreement has been made.

At the same time, the ADC is gaining ground in Kano State, driven by the growing role of Ibrahim Ali Amin, a former APP chairman.

His residence has become a meeting point for political figures, and his influence is shaping the party’s structure in the state.

Despite these developments, there is no clear agreement yet on how party positions will be shared.

The ADC is expected to conduct open congresses and allow all aspirants to contest in its primaries.

This method may differ from Kwankwaso’s usual approach, where candidates are often selected through internal agreement.

It is also not certain who Kwankwaso may support for the Kano governorship position if he completes the move.

He may back someone from his camp or work with other figures such as Ibrahim Ali Amin or Ibrahim Khalil, as discussions continue.

The speculation gained more attention after a political gathering in Kano during the Sallah period.

Key figures such as Peter Obi, Seyi Makinde, and Seriake Dickson visited Kwankwaso.

Although the visit was presented as a social call, it drew public interest and raised questions about possible political cooperation ahead of the next election cycle.
