Popular Yoruba actor Akin Olaiya has announced the end of his marriage to Nafeesat Feenah Hammed, less than one year after the couple tied the knot.

The actor disclosed that the marriage, which was celebrated on June 29, 2025, at the Central Mosque in Sabo, Mokola, Ibadan, has broken down following unresolved disagreements between the couple.

According to Olaiya, problems began shortly after their wedding.

He said the situation became noticeable when they had plans to attend an event in Lagos together. He claimed that his wife later informed him that she was no longer interested in making the trip.

The actor further stated that before he returned home that day, Nafeesat had packed her belongings and left their matrimonial home without informing him beforehand.

Following her departure, Olaiya said he made several attempts to save the marriage.

He explained that he reached out to his wife on different occasions and also met with members of her family in an effort to settle the issues and restore peace between them.

Despite those efforts, he said no agreement was reached, adding that his wife remained unwilling to return to the marriage.

After months of unsuccessful reconciliation attempts, the actor formally announced the dissolution of the union.

In the notice, he stated that the marriage had come to an end and that the relationship could no longer continue because his wife had chosen not to return or reconsider her decision.

The development comes less than a year after the couple exchanged marital vows in the presence of family members, friends and well-wishers.
