Team Nigeria continued their remarkable performance at the 2025 All-Africa Senior Badminton Championship in Douala, Cameroon, securing consecutive victories on the second day of the tournament. With their sights set on a strong finish, the team remains fully committed to excelling in the continental competition, which runs from February 10 to 16.
Competing with a 10-player squad—equally split between male and female athletes—Nigeria is battling across five categories: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. Their dominant display has already established them as a team to watch.
Nigeria kicked off its campaign on Monday, February 10, with a commanding performance against Zambia, winning all five matches. The mixed doubles, women’s singles, and women’s doubles teams secured straight-set victories, while the men’s singles and doubles matches were more competitive but ended in 2-1 triumphs for Nigeria.
Building on this momentum, Nigeria extended their winning streak on Tuesday, February 11, by sweeping Equatorial Guinea in straight sets across all categories in the morning session. The men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles teams showcased their dominance, maintaining a flawless record.
The afternoon match against Mauritius presented a tougher challenge. While Mauritius claimed the mixed doubles match in straight sets, Nigeria responded with victories in the men’s and women’s singles categories. The men’s doubles was a hard-fought encounter, with Mauritius securing a 2-1 win, but Nigeria sealed the overall victory when the women’s doubles team battled to a 2-1 triumph.
With three consecutive wins and a near-perfect record, Nigeria has firmly established itself as a top contender for the championship title and remains focused on maintaining momentum in pursuit of continental glory.
