The Lagos State Government has shut down 12 establishments across different parts of the state, including a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Surulere, over environmental offences ranging from noise pollution and air pollution to non-compliance with regulatory directives.
The enforcement operation was carried out on Monday, June 15, 2026, by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) in collaboration with the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI).
According to the agency, the affected establishments were sealed after repeatedly failing to comply with environmental regulations despite receiving warnings and abatement notices from authorities.
Among those shut down was a Cherubim and Seraphim Church located on Olumuyiwa Jacobs Street, Aguda, Surulere, which was sealed over noise pollution.
Westgate Arena Club at Apostolic Church Close, Olowora, was also closed for persistent noise pollution, while Golden Click Hotel on Cados Road, Baruwa, was sealed for failing to comply with directives issued by the agency.
Also affected was 14:02 Lounge and Bar on Command Road, Aralamo Bus Stop, Ipaja, which was shut down over noise pollution.
Kilo Hotel on Adeniyi Adefioye Street, Kilo, Surulere, was sealed for non-compliance with environmental directives.
Max Lounge on Bode Thomas Street, Surulere, was closed over both noise and air pollution, while The Hotel Macs on Enitan Street, Aguda, Surulere, was shut down for failing to comply with regulatory requirements.
Hotel Bel Am on Agbebi Street, Ijesha, was sealed over noise pollution, while Fecomillion Hotel on Salami Bashorun Street, Ijesha, Surulere, was closed for violating environmental regulations.
The enforcement team also sealed PetroSafe Gas Station on Ijesha Road for obstructing officials in the course of their duties and failing to comply with directives.
Serena Hotel and Suites on Ashoge Street, off Cele Bus Stop, Surulere, was shut down for non-compliance, while CitiLounge on Mobe Street, Ishaga, was sealed over noise pollution.
Gariot on Ogunlana Drive was also affected during the exercise after it was found to have obstructed officials and failed to comply with environmental directives.
LASEPA said the operation was conducted on the instruction of the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, as part of ongoing efforts to enforce environmental laws and protect residents from environmental disturbances.
The agency explained that the exercise targeted establishments linked to excessive noise, air pollution, obstruction of enforcement officers and continued disregard for environmental regulations.
LASEPA General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, said the agency would continue to enforce environmental laws across the state to protect public health and maintain a safe environment.
He also urged residents and business owners to cooperate with regulatory authorities and adopt practices that support a cleaner and healthier Lagos.
