The Kogi State Government has approved the payment of March salaries to civil servants ahead of the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo gave the approval for the early payment to enable workers in the state prepare for the Sallah festivities.

The development was announced on Friday, March 13, 2026, in Lokoja in a statement issued by the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo.

According to the commissioner, the early payment was approved to support workers and make it easier for them to meet their personal needs as the Muslim celebration approaches.

The state government said the move forms part of efforts by the current administration to prioritise the welfare of workers in the public service.

Fanwo added that civil servants across the state have responded positively to the gesture.

He explained that many workers welcomed the early payment because it would help them make proper arrangements for the Sallah celebration.

The commissioner also said the administration of Governor Ododo will continue to support civil servants, noting that the state government values the important role played by workers in delivering services to residents.

He added that the government remains committed to improving the welfare of workers while they continue to carry out their responsibilities in various sectors of the state civil service.

Fanwo also sent goodwill messages to Muslims observing the Ramadan fasting period and wished them a peaceful conclusion of the fast and a joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Eid-el-Fitr marks the end of the Muslim fasting period known as Ramadan.

The celebration is expected to take place next Friday, depending on the sighting of the moon.
