The Sokoto State Government has approved the early payment of March salaries for workers in the state ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu approved the payment to begin on Friday, March 13, 2026, to enable workers meet their needs during the festive period.

The development was announced in a statement issued by Abubakar Bawa, the Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Government House in Sokoto.

According to the statement, the payment will cover workers in the state civil service, employees of the local government councils, staff of the Local Government Education Authority, and pensioners across the state.

The governor also urged civil servants to remain responsible and committed to their duties in support of the government’s efforts.

He advised workers to be punctual, hardworking, dedicated and honest while carrying out their responsibilities in their various offices.

Aliyu explained that civil servants play an important role in helping the government achieve its development plans.

He said the plans are part of his administration’s Nine-Point Smart Innovative Agenda, which aims to improve the living conditions of residents and strengthen the state’s economy.

The statement added that since the current administration assumed office, it has continued to pay workers’ salaries regularly and has also taken steps to clear outstanding gratuities left by the previous government.

Pension payments, according to the government, have also been made consistently.

In addition, the administration has restored monthly imprest to ministries, departments and agencies to help them carry out their duties effectively.
