The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Joash Amupitan, has reassured residents of the Federal Capital Territory that every valid vote cast in the ongoing council election will be reflected in the final outcome, emphasizing that results will be electronically transmitted to the INEC Result Viewing Portal.
Amupitan gave the assurance on Saturday while inspecting the conduct of the FCT area council elections at several polling units within the Abuja Municipal Area Council.

Speaking during the monitoring exercise, the INEC chairman stated that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System is functioning effectively, facilitating smooth accreditation of voters across the polling centres visited.
He further explained that the electronic transmission of results aligns with existing electoral laws, stressing that the commission remains committed to operating within the legal framework governing elections in Nigeria.
Amupitan also commended electoral officials for the prompt distribution of sensitive and non-sensitive materials, noting that early deployment contributed significantly to the orderly commencement of voting activities.
According to him, reports from across the territory indicate that the election has proceeded in a peaceful atmosphere, with no major incidents disrupting the process.

He added that the integrity and transparency of the FCT area council elections would play a vital role in boosting public trust in grassroots democracy, especially as the country looks ahead to the 2027 general elections.
The FCT council poll represents one of the first significant electoral responsibilities undertaken by Amupitan since he assumed office as chairman of the electoral commission in October 2025.
